About Saskatoon's Literacy for Life Conference

2010  Conference

Monday, May 3rd to Thursday, May 6th

Literacy for Life:  A Conference for Children, Youth and Adults  will once again take place from May 3rd  - 6th, 2010. This will be the fifth  Literacy for Life Conference held in Saskatoon. The objective of this conference is to provide children, youth and adults with mentors and models of good literacy. Each year approximately 4600 students are invited, over three days, to an adult like conference held on the campus of  the University of Saskatchewan at no cost to them. The students attend sessions led by local, national and internationally recognized authors, illustrators, journalists, storytellers and others presenters. Connecting to the presenters as well as becoming familiar with the University of  Saskatchewan campus offers students the opportunity to set their sight on a life time of learning. Approximately 1500 delegates attend  sessions which  are held as fundraisers to support the students “no cost” conference, to provide professional development for educators and to bring the business leaders and community members together to better understand the impact literacy has  throughout one’s life. We are very thankful for the corporate sponsors, partnerships and donors. These are the people who ensure that this conference is at no cost to the students.
